About Luna Farms Rescue

Built on Compassion. Driven by Community. Focused on Change.

Luna Farms Rescue is a volunteer-driven, foster-based rescue organization operating across Alabama and Pennsylvania, focused on creating long-term solutions for dogs at risk in overcrowded shelter systems.

With rescue operations rooted in North Alabama and an active adoption and placement hub in Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania, Luna Farms connects dogs with regions where homes, foster networks, and adoption opportunities are more accessible.

Our Alabama operations focus on shelter intervention, intake coordination, veterinary stabilization, foster placement, and community outreach aimed at reducing overpopulation at the source.

Our Pennsylvania hub serves as a critical bridge between transport and adoption, helping dogs transition into foster homes, rescue partnerships, and adoptive families throughout the Northeast.

Luna Farms was intentionally built as a multi-state rescue network designed to bridge the gap between overcrowded Southern shelters and regions with stronger adoption capacity.

We believe rescue should be strategic, compassionate, and sustainable — combining transport, foster care, veterinary support, and data-driven outreach to create lasting impact for both dogs and the communities they come from.

The Bigger Picture

Animal rescue is often seen as saving one animal at a time. And that work matters deeply.

But the reality facing many communities across the Southeast is that shelters are overwhelmed, veterinary access is limited, and the number of animals in need continues to grow.

At Luna Farms Rescue, we believe lasting change requires more than rescue alone. It requires partnerships, prevention, and practical solutions that address the root causes of animal homelessness.

That’s why our work focuses on building connections between shelters, veterinary partners, foster families, and adoption networks — while also expanding access to spay and neuter services and community support.

By combining rescue with long-term solutions, we are working to create a future where fewer animals enter shelters in the first place and more animals find the homes they deserve.

Our Impact

Because of the dedication of volunteers, foster families, and supporters, Luna Farms Rescue has been able to make a meaningful difference for animals across the region.

861 animals saved in 2025 alone.

Our work includes:

• Hundreds of dogs rescued from overcrowded shelters each year
• Animals transported to adoption partners across multiple states
• Community pets supported through vaccine and wellness clinics
• Senior dogs given second chances through our Encore Pups program
• Ongoing partnerships with shelters throughout North Alabama

Behind every number is an animal whose life changed — and a family whose life
changed with them.

Our Story

Luna Farms Rescue was founded by Stephanie Jordan, whose lifelong love for animals was shaped by the example of her mother, who spent her life rescuing animals and giving them safe places to land.

That legacy of compassion became the foundation for Luna Farms Rescue.

What began as a personal commitment to helping animals quickly grew into a larger mission: building partnerships and systems that could save more lives while supporting the shelters and communities working on the front lines of animal welfare.

Today, Luna Farms Rescue works across multiple states to move animals from overcrowded shelters to safe foster homes and loving adopters. At the same time, the organization is working to expand access to veterinary care and spay/neuter services to address the root causes of animal homelessness.

The goal has always been simple — help the animals in front of us while building a better future for the ones who come next.

The Story Behind Our Name

Luna Farms Rescue is named after Luna, a dog whose spirit helped inspire the mission behind the organization.

Luna represents the heart of rescue — resilience, loyalty, and the quiet understanding that animals bring to our lives. Like so many animals who find their way into rescue, Luna’s story reminds us that sometimes the ones who need saving end up saving us, too.

Her name reflects the belief that every animal deserves to be seen, protected, and loved.

Luna Farms Rescue carries that belief forward with every life we touch.

Where We Work

Luna Farms Rescue operates through a connected rescue network spanning North Alabama and Pennsylvania.

Our Alabama operations focus on:

  • shelter intervention

  • medical preparation

  • foster placement

  • transport coordination

  • community outreach and prevention

Our Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania hub serves as a key adoption and placement region where dogs transition into foster homes, adoption programs, and rescue partnerships throughout the Northeast.

This two-region structure allows Luna Farms to strategically move dogs from areas experiencing severe overpopulation into communities where adoption demand and placement resources are stronger.

By connecting these regions through transport, foster care, veterinary partnerships, and data-driven planning, Luna Farms is able to create more sustainable rescue outcomes while helping reduce pressure on overcrowded shelters in the South.

Our Leadership

Luna Farms Rescue is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who guide the organization’s mission and support its long-term impact.

Like our foster families and volunteers, our board members generously give their time, expertise, and leadership to help animals in need.
